Borderlands 3's new Mayhem 10 difficulty is a mess on every level.
The main problem with the new Mayhem levels is very clear. As you go through them, enemy health and player gun damage on drops scales. The issue is that by the time you reach Mayhem 10, enemies have a 12,500% health boost and modifiers that reduce player damage even further . Player guns only have about 200-250% more damage than they did, dropping at Mayhem 10 compared to Mayhem 4.You can see the problem here.
But there’s an even bigger problem here, namely that scaling has been completely broken based on these gun damage and health increases. All player abilities only scale based on your level. Many of them have been pretty underpowered for a while, but some at least had been buffed pretty heavily like Moze’s Iron Bear to be viable. That is no longer true.
Action skills do not scale with Mayhem level, meaning pretty much every skill in the game does nothing but tickle enemies and trigger action skills for more gun damage. Amara’s projections are pointless and her already neutered melee builds have been erased completely. Zane’s toys and FL4K’s pets lack survivability and damage.
