The FBI is investigating the fatal shooting of a man in U.S. custody Tuesday inside a Border Patrol station near El Paso, according to the bureau and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
“One person was taken into custody and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment,” Downey said in a statement. “At this time, the FBI can confirm the person has died from his injuries.”
Neither the FBI nor CBP provided information about the man’s nationality or the circumstances of the shooting. CBP said the agency’s Office of Professional Responsibility is also reviewing the incident, and El Paso Police Department officers responded to the scene. “Additional information will be shared when it becomes available,” CBP said in a statement confirming the man’s death.As of Sept.
