Now that Title 42 has expired, the White House is relying on a new rule that bars people from applying for asylum if they first cross the border illegally, or if they do not first apply in another country. Those who do cross illegally could face a five-year ban from the country.“What the secretary failed to say is that this week has seen more crossings than any week in our history,” Rep. Mark Green , the House Homeland Security chair, said on CNN’s “State of the Union.
