The former Mamelodi Sundowns star Zungu potential move to Chiefs is analysed, but what is Amakhosi’s official stance on the midfielder?Bongani Zungu, now a free agent, recently underwent a trial at Moroccan club Wydad Athletic Club, where he was coached by former Sundowns mentor Rulani Mokwena. However, Zungu’s trial did not result in a contract. Fitness concerns, due to a lack of competitive football since May 2024, were reportedly the primary reason for the failure.
Kaizer Chiefs already have several strong options in defensive midfield, including Njabulo Blom, Samkelo Zwane, and Sibongiseni Mthethwa. Blom, who rejoined Chiefs on loan from MLS side St. Louis City SC, has already made an impact. Mthethwa is still fighting for a starting spot, while Zwane remains a key figure in the squad. However, it is still not at a level that Nabi wants, hence the rumours.After his departure from Sundowns, Zungu’s future has remained uncertain.
