Police, firefighters and the explosive ordnance disposal unit descended to the street earlier this afternoon. It has since been cordoned off with a strong emergency service presence in place.
A large-scale emergency service response remains on Banavie Road in Hyndland after a 'suspected ordnance' was discovered earlier today.
Police, firefighters and the explosive ordnance disposal unit swarmed the Glasgow street and taped it off as residents were evacuated on Tuesday afternoon . Footage from the scene shows a fire engine arriving while multiple police officers stand guard in front of a cordon. An EOD vehicle is also at the scene during the ongoing incident.Residents will be allowed back into their homes once the area is made safe.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.05pm on Tuesday, 12 September, 2023, police were called to a property in Banavie Road, Glasgow, following the discovery of suspected ordnance in a back garden."People in surrounding properties have been evacuated as a precaution until the item can be safely disposed of."
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 1.32pm on Tuesday, 12 September Operations Control was called to assist emergency service partners at an incident on Banavie Road, Glasgow and mobilised two appliances to the scene."
