“It’s the start of your World Cup campaign, so there’s probably a bit of pressure on everyone to produce, but it also depends on how you see pressure or how you handle pressure,” explained Vermeulen at a press conference on Tuesday.“You want to start well. That’s the same for every single team and hopefully we can achieve that.
Vermeulen was also grateful that he was even at the World Cup for what is expected to be his international swansong, after his struggles during the 2022 international season which had seen a few youngsters coming into contention ahead of him.
