Kurt-Lee Arendse and Canan Moodie have been named in a strong 28-man Vodacom Bulls touring squad that will travel to the United Kingdom and France for back-to-back fixtures in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship and Champions Cup.

The Vodacom Bulls will first take on Ulster in the Vodacom URC clash at the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast, before travelling to Toulouse for the Champions Cup round of 16 match a week later. After missing the last month of fixtures on Springbok duty, Arendse and Moodie have returned to the squad and are set to be involved for the first time since January.

The Springbok duo will add X-factor to an experienced set of backs that also includes veterans Morne Steyn and Cornal Hendricks, while Stedman Gans is back after making a return in the Currie Cup. There is also space for 19-year-old scrumhalf Neil le Roux.Sbu Nkosi and Jacques du Plessis have been left in South Africa to pick up more minutes in the Currie Cup.

“We are playing in multiple competitions and so it becomes important for us to balance our sides,” said Jake White. “Both the team travelling and the one remaining to focus on the Currie Cup campaign – we believe – has the best possible chance at getting the results we want,” “We have also left behind some experienced players like Lizo Gqoboka, Jacques du Plessis, Mihlali Mosi and Sbu Nkosi, who need more game time but also have the wisdom to flank the youngsters when they travel to Bloemfontein. This is important because we want to do well in that competition as much as it is our ambition to do well in Europe.”
