Meredith Drukker Stratigopoulos, a plaintiff attorney and partner at Watts Guerra LLP raised in Boerne, believes the current number of accusations is indicative of many more potential victims yet to come forward.Terry Sentell, commenting on a story posted in the Facebook group, Boerne Area Informed Citizens, expressed doubt that Spiller’s behavior went unnoticed for decades, writing “it’s hard to believe someone did not catch this.
“It’s just sad that this perv got away with it this long and what it’s done to the individuals and their mental status down the road,” Sentell commented. “It just doesn’t go away in a lifetime for some.”Tanya Cahen Stevens, replying to a prior comment from Sentell on the post, said it’s “horrifying” for anyone “involved in the Boerne gymnastics community and beyond and anyone who has ever been in his presence.
“We have always instructed our child to stay far away from him if ever he was at the gym because something felt very off with him,” she wrote. “I can tell you that the kids who have trained there for any length of time are really struggling to process this. “My child, thank God, was not a victim of but has competed at this gym for the past 11 years,” Cahen Stevens said. “We love and fully trust our child’s coaches.”
Drukker Stratigopoulos said gymnastics programs all across the world could be implicated in Spiller’s behavior, given his decades-long career spanning several states and countries.
