A multi-agency search was launched to trace the experienced walker and camper after his car and equipment was discovered at the campsite.
Francis Johnson, 74, had travelled from his home in Dorset to go hillwalking in the area and was last seen at the Glenbrittle camping site in Skye on Wednesday, September 6.
Police have now confirmed that a body has been found on the Cuillin range during the search for Francis. Formal identification is still to take place but his family has been informed. Francis had travelled to Scotland to attempt walking Sgurr nan Eag, Banachdich, Bruach Na Frithe, and Blaven. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man has been found on the Cuillin range in the Isle of Skye during searches for a missing person.
