Very sad news to report
Police have discovered a body in the search for a missing Nottinghamshire man. Mark Bishop, 64, of Newark, was last seen near the River Trent in his home town on January 7.
Nottinghamshire Police said they were yet to identify the body which was found in the river by its underwater search team on Tuesday, February 14. However they say they have notified Mr Bishop's family. Detective Inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Whilst formal identification is still yet to take place, Mr Bishop’s family have been informed of this incredibly sad discovery. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies remain with Mark’s family and everyone who knew him at this sad time.
“I would like to reassure the community that we do not believe what happened to be suspicious but are keen to understand exactly what happened. Anyone with any additional information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 365 of 9 January 2023.”
