The new rule affects drivers of certain cars, including Kia, BMW, Mercedes and Range Rover
Owners of popular car brands such as Kia, BMW, Mercedes and Range Rover are being warned about a potential £70 car park fine because their vehicles are too long. This is due to a new regulation implemented by local councils, which stipulates a maximum length for cars permitted to park in their spaces.
Cars exceeding five metres in length are no longer allowed to park in these car parks, which have a maximum parking bay length of 4.8 metres. It is logical to assume that those violating the ban would be issued with Penalty Charge Notices if discovered. Among the best-selling vehicles likely to be affected are the Mercedes S-Class, Tesla Model S, BMW 7 Series, Range Rovers, the Audi A8 and the Kia EV9, as well as the Rolls Royce Cullinan. However, other vehicles, including high-end sports cars, would also be barred.
