The BMW motorist who was previously filmed verbally abusing a petrol attendant, who attempted to clamp the wheel of his car on a garage forecourt in Rondebosch, has issued a statement where he formally apologised for his actions.
In addition, the motorist, identified as Renzo Torrente, has offered to apologise in person to the people involved if they allow him to do so,‘In light of recent events at Shell Rondebosch and the subsequent video which has gone “viral” on social media, I would like to formally apologise to all affected, including the owners, management and staff at Shell Rondebosch,’ said Torrente in the statement.
‘My actions were wrong and I do not deny this, I did make an attempt at an apology in person, but understandably so, I was not welcome at the time, that being said, I am still willing to apologise in person if the owners will allow me to do so,’ Torrente added. Torrente also stated that he has also agreed to ‘repair any damages’ that were caused at the owner’s ‘earliest convenience’., the privately owned BMW that was involved in the incident had recently been loaned to the BMW Car Club of Cape Town as a Safety Car in the BMW Car Club races at Killarney.
