Blue Jays ready to soak up the Canadian baseball bash that awaits in Seattle Via longleysunsport
“The thing I like the most is walking to the ballpark and seeing Toronto fans everywhere,” Montoyo said of the special scene that unfolds every time Canada’s team hits town. “It’s pretty awesome. For the guys who haven’t seen it, it’s going to be wild. They’re going to feel like they’re playing at home. The feeling will build through the weekend, when, by Saturday night it will be a Canadian baseball bash here, a near-sellout at T-Mobile Park with a clear majority of fans from Western Canada.
Though many on the current Jays roster have only heard of it anecdotally – and on video – those who have had a taste still shake their heads at the magic of the moments. “I think the thing that was so cool about it is they’re not just casual fans, they’re as diehard as they are in Toronto,” Biggio said. “When I went to Calgary, fans talked to me and it was about very specific stuff and this was almost on the other side of the country.
As Montoyo notes, the popular Pike Place Market will be swarmed with Jays fans, as will the pit stops on Seattle’s vibrant craft beer scene. And given that the last true version of this celebration of Canada’s lone Major League Baseball team took place in the before times of 2019, you can guarantee there will be some extra life to the party.
