That made it two wins in a row for the Red Sox over the Jays down in Boston and further tightened the standings in the tough division. The 17-4 Sox are now just 1.5 games behind the third-place Jays, who are 6-4 in their past 10.
In Monday’s opener at Fenway, closer Jordan Romano allowed a walk-off homer to start the series off on a losing note after losing an extra-innings game to the Mariners on Sunday at the Rogers Centre. While it’s likely a blip for a good Jays team, they’ve now allowed 23 combined runs in their previous three games. And it’s clearly apparent that the Red Sox are done with being their doormats.Jays starter Kikuchi’s bid for a fifth consecutive win ran into some hard hits from Red Sox batters.
