The Toronto Blue Jays acquired left-handed pitcher Foster Griffin from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for right-hander Jonatan Bernal on Saturday. Toronto also designated right-hander Sergio Romo for assignment.
Griffin was immediately optioned to triple-A Buffalo.
Griffin had a 12.46 ERA in five appearances for the Royals this season. With triple-A Omaha, the 26-year-old held a 4-0 record with a 1.93 ERA and 32 strikeouts.was called up from triple-A Buffalo and will be active for Saturday night's game against the Royals.for assignment. The veteran pitcher signed with Toronto on June 29 after he was placed on unconditional release waivers by the Seattle Mariners., and avoid posting profanity, personal attacks or harassment.
