European football, in all its glory, returned this week with mouth-watering matches promising to bring excitement.Perhaps the most exciting match-up this week was Manchester City's quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich, especially with the Citizens having been in red-hot form this season. The Bavarian giants, who have gone through a managerial change of late, travelled to the Etihad with the hope of burying the English giants' UCL title hopes.
After the match, Bayern teammates Sadio Mane and Leroy Sane were involved in a bust-up in the changing room. Reports suggest that Sane was visibly upset with Sane for a poor run he made during the match. Allegedly, Sane later blurted a slur at Mane in the changing room which caused the Senegalese superstar to lash out and punch his teammate in the face, causing a bloodied lip.
Mane is currently going through his own personal struggles, which, without a doubt, helped lead to the uncharacteristic outburst. He is reportedly set to be fined about €500 000 and will serve a one-match suspension. Cristiano Ronaldo seemingly showed his presence this week when now-former Al Nassr head coach Rudi Garcia was sacked with immediate effect. Reports suggest that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was unhappy with the coach and the club agreed with him, given that he alone is responsible for more than half of their wage bill.
