That’s happened in the past, of course. Queen Elizabeth II only took the throne because her uncle, the uncrowned Edward VIII, abdicated in favour of her father, George VI in order to marry divorcee Wallis Simpson. He knows major changes must be made to modernize and ensure that the monarchy remains relevant. They must be made soon and they won’t be easy. It would be much better for Charles to do the dirty work and take the blame before William becomes king.Article content
