The Greedy Pig venue will take over the former KFC unit in the town centre, in the shadow of Blackpool Tower
A new fast food restaurant is set to open in Blackpool just metres from the seafront. The Greedy Pig, located in the shadows of Blackpool Tower on bank Hey Street, is scheduled to open by the end of the month.
The eat-in and takeaway venue has taken over the former KFC unit in the town centre, which is a prime spot for footfall. It will serve a range of fast food, including 'premium' burgers, jacket potatoes, hot dogs, 'speciality' coffee and soft drinks. It will also feature a whopping 22 flavours of ice cream to choose from. The bold red signage featuring a bright pink neckerchief-wearing pig character is already in place and the interior is nearing completion. The restaurant, which spans the corner of Bank Key Street and Victoria Street, is currently recruiting for full and part-time roles. The unit has been vacant since fried chicken chain KFC shut in early 2021, after choosing not to renew its lease on the building .
KFC still has three further branches in Blackpool on Devonshire Road, Cornelian Way and Lytham Road in South Shore. The Greedy Pig is the latest in a bundle of new food and drink openings to arrive the seaside resort in recent months. It joins multivendor offering Abingdon Street Market, jerk chicken and cocktail Caribbean chain Turtle Bay and 'Soho-style' wine bar, Le Plonk.
