An arrest has been made
Officers in the town were alerted to reports of separate incidents in the Harrowside area on the afternoons of Friday and Saturday . Nobody was hurt during either incident and a CCTV appeal was released on Sunday evening with Lancashire Constabulary keen to identify the driver on the white van.
In an update issued this afternoon , the force said a 64-year-old man was arrested in Blackpool this morning. He is currently in custody for questioning and enquiries are still ongoing.Community patrols in the area were increased following the incidents with police asking people to 'remain vigilant'.
The update from Blackpool Police read: "Yesterday we told you that our officers were investigating incidents where girls had been approached by a van driver in Blackpool. They happened in the Harrowside area on Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon. "No one was hurt in the incidents. To update you, a 64-year-old man was arrested in Blackpool this morning and is currently in custody.
"Thank you to everyone who shared and helped with the appeal. We continue to appeal for information about the incidents, please call 101 or email [email protected] - quoting log 1060 of June 30."
