Sophie Ellis-Bextor flicked the giant switch as the Switch-on event turned outdoors for the first time since 2019
The greatest free light show on earth is glowing once again. Blackpool Illuminations will now shone for an amazing 122 days.
Thousands packed the promenade to enjoy live music from pop star Sophie Ellis-Bextor, who had the job of flicking the giant switch to turn the six miles of lights on for another year.The night included a huge family party and a Nickelodeon Grand Parade, which saw larger-than-life characters make their way down the Golden Miles to entertain the masses at the free public event.
The night culminated when spectators were wowed by a stunning fireworks display, to really launch the illuminations season in style. Scroll through the gallery of images below, as Blackpool glows magnificently on a late summer's night on the Fylde coast.
