Bin collections across Northamptonshire have once again been affected by the heavy snowfall this morning, March 10. Both Northamptonshire councils' waste and recycling crews are working today but collections might take longer because of the conditions.
West Northamptonshire Council said if your bin is usually collected on Fridays but is not emptied today, leave it out so it can be collected by 6:30am tomorrow. Food and garden waste collections in Pitsford, Brixworth, Scaldwell and Old are also likely to be affected by the weather. If bins are not emptied by 5pm today, WNC has asked people to bring them in but put them out again before 6am on Monday. The council's Household Waste Recycling Centre at Daventry remains closed, but all others are now safely open.North Northamptonshire Council said if residents were expecting their bin to be emptied on Thursday but it was not collected, it should be left out so it can be collected by Monday. The collections could take place at any time.
WNC said it will extend its Severe Weather Emergency Protocol until at least Saturday. That means that homelessness agencies provide extra beds for rough sleepers during severe weather. NNC said its protocol has been extended until at least the start of next week but that will be reviewed daily.
