The midfielder starred once again for his side as they picked up a big win over Newcastle.
Billy Gilmour was at the heart of Bright and Hove Albion's 3-1 win over Newcastle United this afternoon.
Gilmour's form was rocketing towards the end of last season and all signs are pointing towards the Scotland international picking up where he left off. The Seagulls were one goal to the good at the interval and Evan Ferguson's strike came from a close-range finish as the Newcastle keeper failed to hold Gilmour's venomous strike.
The 22-year-old then turned provider again for Ferguson to make it 2-0 as he managed to nudge the ball to the Irishman in the middle of the pitch before he unleashed his strike. Fans and pundits were raving about how influential he was with former Chelsea and St Johnstone player Jody Morris tweeting that: "Billy Gilmour, best player on the pitch that first half."
James Collins, former West Ham player, told BBC Radio 5 Live that the goal came from Gilmour's 'great strike'. It's the perfect time for the former Rangers youth player to get back into the groove with Scotland's crucial Euro 2024 qualifier against Cyprus and a friendly against England around the corner.
Gilmour finished the match with one official assist, 12 final third entries , two chances created, and 87 per cent passing accuracy from 63 passes. Fellow Scotland youngster Elliot Anderson also made an appearance for Newcastle after he received his first senior-team call-up midweek from Steve Clarke.
