Maher retorted that Seinfeld is already considered, 'the purest of the pure stand-ups,' before adding, 'this leads me to something I feel nervous about telling you.' 'I feel like you're the confessor to this but after this year, I'm going to stop doing it,' Maher said, which seemed to visibly surprise Seinfeld
'And I just feel like you've got to... I don't know, you know, first of all, I put a lot of time and effort into it, because, as you know, stand-up is like playing the cello,' Maher said, as Seinfeld agreed, stating, 'Absolutely.' He joked, 'Even if you don't like it you kind of have to laugh to get your money's worth, like how you stay in a movie even if it sucks.'
