At least the Senators packed up some confidence in their luggage as they left for Washington in the afternoon following a brief, but spirited workout at the Bell Sensplex.
“I thought he played really well up until his last game when he got hurt,” coach D.J. Smith said of Bernard-Docker, who has picked up one assist in his six games with the Senators this season. “He tried to tough it through and a couple ended up in the net but that’s because he wants to stay in the NHL. To stay in the hunt, the Senators also need to continue to receive outstanding goaltending. Talbot effectively stole the two points against the Bruins, setting a franchise record with 49 saves. He stopped 26 of 27 shots during the third period and was at his best during a frantic Bruins power play late in the game when Boston came in wave after wave.
