Seven unique images show the plague of plastic Northern Ireland is now facing and how it is impacting nature
Seven shocking new images show the plague of plastic Northern Ireland is now facing and how it is impacting nature.
They highlight how the single-use plastics we throw away have crept into birds nests, green fields, lakes, rivers and on beaches leaving plants, wildlife, farm animals and even plants have no choice but to live with it.The Big Pointless Plastic Photography Competition saw residents, aged 16+, across Northern Ireland submit pictures that highlight the blight.
Chris Gourley, Waste and Pollutions Solutions Strategic Lead at Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful said: “The judges were looking for a photograph that really demonstrated the impact that plastic is having every single day on our wildlife and environment. The winning image clearly demonstrates the extent of our serious problem. We need to act now to repair our planet – if we do, we really can make a big change.
Entrants were also asked to make or update their ‘Plastic Promise’, to ensure that they were committed to tackling plastic.
