SYDNEY — In a few short years, a group of parents and volunteers who love Little League baseball hope to turn two local fields into a Mecca for the sport ...

The conceptual drawing for the three field baseball complex in Sydney is shown. A volunteer group is working on the project that will transform two fields into Little League standard playing surfaces. They two will be connected by walking trails to a third. Washrooms, walking trails and upgraded parking are also part of the plans.

The upgraded park, as the vision goes, will connect with the neighbouring Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park for three fields that will showcase baseball at multiple levels.“We have a challenger baseball division in the Sydney area which is for our exceptional children and right now they don’t have a field that is accessible to them,” MacLeod said.

McCormack Field will be transformed into a supporting field for younger kids and an extended parking lot will be constructed behind the Susan McEachern Memorial Ball Park using the entrance to the Bernie MacNeil Memorial Field. Access to all fields from this lot will be by walking trails constructed to connect all fields.Early cost estimates for the park upgrades are about $1.

Projects Mombourquette referenced were the upgrades to the Nicole Meaney Memorial Ball Park in Sydney Mines and the Hawks Field project in Dominion.
