The Stormers will have to complete the remainder of their European tour without one of their key Springbok players due to injury.
The Stormers are currently in week two on a four-match tour of Scotland, Italy, Ireland and Wales, but were dealt a telling blow when it was confirmed that Springbok Lizo Gqoboka had to return home after suffering an injury.STORMERS DEALT BIG BLOW
The Stormers started their overseas excursion with a defeat when they went down 9-20 to the Glasgow Warriors at Scotstoun Stadium in Scotland last Friday night. It was the Cape side’s first loss of the new campaign, following good wins over the Lions and Scarlets in the opening two rounds ofBut that result against Glasgow became an even more bitter pill to swallow following confirmation that Gqoboka had picked up what appears to be a serious, long-term injury in that match.
“Lizo hurt his arm in the game so he won’t be up for selection,” Stormers assistant coach Labeeb Levy revealed on Tuesday. “At this point, everyone else is fit for selection.“I can’t say what the final prognosis is because he flew back to Cape Town,” the Stormers coach added.
