President Biden will nominate former Democratic Sen. Tom Udall of New Mexico to serve as ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa, the White House said Friday
.for two terms between 2009 and 2021. Before that, he served in the House of Representatives.
“This position—working with one of our closest partners and allies—is integral as we work closely with New Zealand to confront the challenges facing our nations—including COVID-19, climate, and China,” Mr. Udall said in a statement.
