In his speech at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in front of an audience of more than 1,000 service members, first responders and their families, Biden said the anniversary is a time to remember our sense of national unity. “This day reminds us we must never lose that sense of national unity,” he said. “Let that be the common cause of our time. Let us honor Sept. 11 by renewing our faith in one another.”

The administration also said it is giving $4 million from the 9/11 Memorial Act grant program to the National September 11 Memorial & Memorial Plaza in New York City.Sign up for NBC LA newsletters.
