The Biden administration says Tennessee and nearly every other state with historically Black land-grant universities have missed out on $12.6 billion in funding over the last three decades.
Women joining the medical field have steadily increased over the last decade and one women is making history. Tamia Potter is a current medical student at Case Western University and became Vanderbilt's first Black woman resident in their Neurosurgery program. Her reaction to getting picked on National Match Day went viral on social media. LiveNOW from FOX producer Tania Sims had the opportunity to speak to Potter about her historic accomplishment and her reaction to going viral.
"Unacceptable funding inequities have forced many of our nation’s distinguished historically Black colleges and universities to operate with inadequate resources and delay critical investments in everything from campus infrastructure to research and development to student support services," Cardona said in a statement Monday.
