HDB said the masterplan for Bidadari was honoured for its architecture and innovative design, development and construction, and community-centric benefit. Last year's winners in the Master Plan category were Malaysia's Setia Eco Templer and City of Elmina. Due to its location as a stopover site for migratory birds, Bidadari also features a 1-hectare hillock that was retained even as the surrounding areas were developed. At Woodleigh Glen in Woodleigh district, residents can get a bird’s-eye view of the hillock from a 200m-long bird-watching sky terrace - a first in a HDB development.Apart from MRT and buses services, the estate also has an extensive cycling and pedestrian network, much of which runs through the Bidadari Greenway and Bidadari Park.
“Bidadari’s well-designed housing developments, together with the generous provision of lush greenery and the preservation of the area’s function as a bio-diversity hotspot have brought about positive contributions to the surrounding environment and will enable the residents to live healthy and active lives,” said HDB.
