Bo Bichette racks up five hits as Toronto Blue Jays double up Tampa Bay 6-3 to snap Rays’ 13-game winning streak
George Springer hit a leadoff homer and Bo Bichette had five hits as the Toronto Blue Jays beat Tampa Bay 6-3 on Friday night to end the Rays’ season-opening 13-game winning streak.
Erik Swanson pitched a scoreless eighth inning for Toronto and Jordan Romano of Markham, Ont., worked the ninth for his fifth save. Tampa Bay starter Drew Rasmussen entered play with a clean earned-run average this season. Springer changed that by taking his second pitch of the game over the wall for his third homer of the year.
The Blue Jays loaded the bases in the bottom half of the frame after Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled and Daulton Varsho walked. Rasmussen was pulled after striking out Matt Chapman.
