BEIJING—The expanding U.S.-China rivalry in the world of technology is set to be put on full display this week, with a smaller Chinese presence expected in Las Vegas for CES, the world’s biggest consumer-electronics exhibition. Chinese exhibit space at the annual show is projected to be down 5% to 6% compared with last year, event organizers said. The event on Jan. 7 to Jan.
CES is a place to find stuff to file under"So Crazy It Just Might Work." That’s The Box, a system that its designer, French startup LivingPackets, says could replace cardboard boxes. Not one or two cardboard boxes—ALL cardboard boxes. It has a rugged body, e-ink screen for shipping info, internal sensors, camera and even internet access to verify the safety of the contents, and a battery that lasts roughly 1,000 deliveries.
