It can take one dose of indoctrination to create an authoritarian, Gestapo-styled dictatorship that could topple the world-acclaimed democratic Constitution that South Africa is known for, writes Benzi ka-Soko
President Thabo Mbeki has come out guns blazing, lambasting the ANC for committing a litany of political and governance blunders through poor judgements, which include protecting President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Phala Phala gate, thereby, creating an impression that the party and its president have something to hide.
For starters, it should be categorically mentioned that political parties do not represent their own jackets in Parliament but the aspirations of the people across the spectrum. It is now common knowledge that the ANC as a governing party has used its parliamentary majority to bulldoze wrong decisions, despite being cautioned about the wrongfulness of these decisions. It is clear that the party line does not care about the consciences of MPs and their moral standing in society.
Matter of factly, the factional groups that dominated the ANC before the 2022 national conference are still operating either openly or covertly. This points to the fact that many Mbekites in the ANC are still not happy with the trajectory and posture that the party has taken since the apocalyptic events of the eight days in September 2007.
