Benzema blames Al Ittihad teammates for poor form
JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA - APRIL 5: Karim Benzema of Al Ittihad looks on during the Saudi Pro League match between Al-Ittihad and Al-Taawoun at King Abdullah Sport City Stadium on April 5, 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Karim Benzema has seemingly blamed his Al Ittihad teammates for his poor form in the Saudi Pro League this season.Benzema was not the only big name to join Al Ittihad, with N'Golo Kante and Fabinho leaving the Premier League to make the switch to Saudi Arabia.Al Ittihad won the Saudi Pro League last season, but this season has not gone smooth as they currently sit 30 points behind league leaders Al Hilal.
Benzema, meanwhile, has netted just nine goals in 20 appearances this campaign but he claims he needs more help."I can’t win the game alone. I need a lot of things." The 2022 Ballon d'Or winner has not scored a goal in the last three months, which has seen the striker dropped by coach Marcelo Gallardo.
Benzema had been linked with a return Europe after going AWOL in December, but it remains to be seen if he will continue in Saudi Arabia next season. For 14 free days, you can have access to the best from Soccer Laduma, KickOff, Daily Sun, TrueLove and Drum.
