“In loathing memory of Alexander “Boris” De Pfeffel Johnson.'
A plaque ‘in loathing memory’ of former prime Minister Boris Johnson has now mysteriously disappeared, it has been reported. This comes after a bench in Atherton became ‘famous’ due to the joke plaque which had residents in stitches.
It is not clear who installed the plaque or who took it away, but it did provide entertainment to the high street while it was there. The owners of the Dry Clean Centre on Market Street, just next to the bench which donned the plaque, said people were coming into town just to see it after images spread across social media.
The homage to Mr Johnson said: “In loathing memory of Alexander “Boris” De Pfeffel Johnson. Prime Minister June 2019 to July 2022. Forgotten but not gone.”Anita and Brian Thomas said that people had been flocking to the site on their doorstep to see what it said for themselves. They said it was ‘one of the oddest things’ they have seen in the town centre in their 46 years running the family business.
“We were closed as we were away last week and opened up again and saw that,” Anita told the Manchester Evening News before it was removed. “Everyone is coming now, two bobbies came and one was tying their shoelace on the bench when I asked them if they had seen the plaque, they were shocked.“We have no idea who put it up. It wasn’t us though.”
Many residents going past found the funny side to the plaque, but it did spark discussion over what sort of PM Boris Johnson was.Facebook Twitter
