The Belmond Introduces A New Train Carriage Designed By Wes Anderson
Very much in keeping with the Wes Anderson aesthetic, his magical and alluring dream-like storytelling is lovingly applied to the origins of the 1950s carriage. Here, there is a merging of symmetrical lines and a rich unique color palette that’s perfectly packaged in the Art Nouveau style.
After all, Cygnus is named after the Greek God of Balance and is often personified as a swan, and so, these references are evident throughout the design, from the intricate waves and swan detailing in the marquetry, and the silver leaf on the ceiling that reflects like water, to the swan shaped champagne coolers.Not only is there a new tailored look, there's also an accompanying elevated guest experience with two new private coupés in the carriage.
Along with plentiful fizz and a specially designed cocktail menu, there’s also contemporary British menus, all of which is served on crockery that’s exclusive to the private coupé. Guests can also travel in the open carriage as part of the regular Pullman experience, or choose to book the entire carriage for groups and celebrations up to 26 people.“At Belmond we are custodians of timeless heritage.
