ICYMI: Bell: Alberta's Glubish brings the heat on high pump prices
Glubish is the guy in the provincial government responsible for having the backs of Alberta consumers.Late Friday afternoon, Premier Jason KenneyThe government he leads isn’t collecting the provincial tax at the pump. Gas prices are high enough without the tax. Here’s Kenney’s statement from Friday afternoon.
The premier says he is demanding an explanation for why this lack of an Alberta advantage on fuel became a reality.“It is illegal for competitors to mutually agree to set prices. Albertans deserve to know if this is going on.” “When that doesn’t happen we have to ask the tough questions. It is the Alberta government’s job to protect Albertans from being taken advantage of in a time of crisis.
“We start with an investigation. We see what that brings and let’s cross the next bridge when we come to it,” says Glubish. His timeline to nail down the facts is sooner rather than later. His mission appears to be in the express lane.Glubish says he understands many people in this province are angry. Damn straight.
