Belgian coach Luc Eymael has spoken on how he came close to joining Orlando Pirates in relation to recent rumours about Kaizer Chiefs , speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.
In 2013, when the Buccaneers were coached by Roger de Sa, Eymael had a meeting with the club’s hierarchy, as confirmed by the mentor. The 64-year-old UEFA Pro Licence holder says he had at least two meetings with Bucs chairman Irvin Khoza at the recommendation of the club’s former administrator Floyd Mbele.

While he confirmed in an interview with Soccer Laduma in the paper this week that a certain agent recently told him of interest from Chiefs in his services, the tactician says he found out that such information wasn’t accurate after communicating with the club’s Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jnr.
“The truth is like when Pirates was interested in me before, I had been in talks with the chairman. But that was long time ago, and I’m using that as an example. When AmaZulu were interested, I was in talks with the chairman, and it was the same with Chippa , I was in talks with the chairman. When Free State Stars wanted me, Rantsi called me, and I was with Polokwane at the time under Mr Mogaladi,” said Eymael. “ It was in 2013, and I was in Kenya at the time.
