A Belfast woman with kidney disease will be featured on a RTÉ TV series, where she discovers that her polycystic kidneys are four times larger than a healthy kidney. The episode reveals that she will eventually need a kidney transplant, but her consultant proposes a novel surgical treatment to delay the transplant.
A Belfast woman who has suffered with kidney disease since she was a teenager will appear on a RTÉ TV series next week.In episode two, Kathryn meets 28-year-old Cara Connolly from Belfast who upon seeing her polycystic kidneys in 3D, is shocked to discover that they’re four times bigger than a healthy kidney.It's discovered in the episode that Cara will eventually need a kidney transplant.
A RTÉ spokesperson said: "Being diagnosed with a serious medical condition that requires surgery is terrifying for anyone. "Their surgical consultants answer questions about the treatments they propose to fix their problems. The result is a series of extraordinary consultations allowing the viewers to grasp common medical complaints and how they can be treated.
