Addison Timlin reflects on being a single mom in a recent Instagram post: “It is so f—king hard.”
She maxed out the post’s carousel with 10 photos, mostly of the kids/exhausted mom selfie/makeup or hair styled by child selfie/texts about poop variety, and the parts of her caption about the highs and lows of parenting and the wonders of unconditional love aren’t the sentences that have people grabbing their monocles for a close read. Being a parent is awesome and also very, very difficult, and it can look a lot of different ways.
However, Timlin describes herself in the caption as a “single mom” and references “doing it alone,” and mentions a time span of nine months. She does“Being a single mom is not how I pictured it. It is so fucking hard,” Timlin’s caption began.
Math is another wonderful and difficult thing, but nine months would take us back to August 2022, which is, you might notice, before last week’s divorce filing news, before Whitethat breaking out might have been more jarring if he “were single or without children,” referencing them as “a foundation outside [his] career],” and before White shouted out his family in his Golden Globes acceptance speech, saying, “I love you deep in my bones.
Of course, love does not equal actively being a parent, nor do we know how Timlin herself defines being a single mom. It’s possible Timlin and White have been separated much longer than we've realized, and/or that the “doing it alone” she references has to do with White’s time on set or being away for work-related publicity obligations.
