On October 21, Allure hosted hundreds of beauty enthusiasts for a day of product testing, treatments, and unfiltered beauty conversation.
The day began with rain, but the sky had cleared by the time the lines started forming. This weekend, roughly 1,000 convened on the west side of Manhattan — from as far away as California and as near as Westchester County — for Allure’s Best of Beauty: The Live Event. It was the first event of its kind in Allure’s 30 plus-year history, and allowed readers to interact in a whole new way — beyond their own bathrooms and makeup bags — with the industry-famous crimson Best of Beauty seal.
“I saw some of these faces a few weeks ago,” she said, fresh off of a retailer’s beauty event. “But the vibe is different here. There’s an intimacy.” She looked around, wordlessly acknowledging the irony of an “intimate” gathering of 1,000 strangers, but almost all of them were tightly engaged in conversation with someone else, smiling, laughing, maybe about cream blush. “Spending a day with the Allure community IRL is a dream come true,” said Allure editor-in-chief Jessica Cruel.
