Manchester United hero David Beckham sent a message to Lionel Messi after presenting the iconic Argentina captain with his record-extending eighth Ballon d'Or.
PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe and Kevin De Bruyne, another treble-winner with City last season, finished third and fourth respectively as Messi was recognised for inspiring Argentina to the World Cup trophy. Shortly after the ceremony, Beckham sent the forward a message on Instagram. Uploading images from their meeting on-stage, Beckham said: "Huge honour to present Leo with his 8th Ballon d'Or.
