Special tributes

Tributes have been left this week to remember loved ones in Rossendale who have recently passed away.

He loved cricket and had played for Rawtenstall Cricket Club in his younger days. He was also a keen golfer and a gifted musician having been church organist at St John’s Crawshawbooth and at Rakefoot Methodist Church, Crawshawbooth where his funeral will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 2pm and afterwards at Burnley Crematorium.

He also enjoyed visiting his family with gifts and cards loved comedy and the emergency services. Lee was an honorary member of the St John’s Ambulance Brigade, Darwen and sponsored horses at HAPPA. He was also an ambassador for mobility at the Cloudspotting Festival.The celebration of the life of Lee Blant took place at St Nicholas Church, Newchurch, Rossendale on Friday, May 5, conducted by Father Scott Richardson. Donations to St John’s Ambulance.

Kevin leaves behind his daughter Paula, son Darren, grandchildren Ashley, Nyomi, Natalie, Lauren and Harry as well as nieces and nephews and good friends Dawn and Tricia. Rita was originally from Dunmore East, Co. Waterford Eire and came to Rossendale over 70 years ago to be a nurse at the then Moorlands Hospital from which she retired 33 ears ago. She also worked as a school cook at St. Ambrose and at Bentgate Schools.Rita was wife to the late George and sister to the late Brendan. She leaves behind daughter Angela, grandchildren Michael and Gemma, great granddaughter Lyla, son-in-law Gary, sister Teresa and many nieces and nephews.

Heather was born in Sheffield and attended King Ecgberts Technical School before teacher training college in Manchester. Heather first taught at Brightside Infants in Sheffield during the early 1970’s before working in several different schools in Cardiff and Chesterfield.
