Through three games, the rookie running back looks like the Texans’ best mid-round draft find in years. He ran 20 times for 80 yards and scored his first NFL touchdown. He fumbled twice, with neither lost, but you can live with that given his production. Why he wasn’t given the ball on a pair of critical third-and-1 situations during the fourth quarter is something that’ll be talked about all week.
The Texans seemed to catch a break when starting Bears running back David Montgomery left with a leg injury. But backup Khalil Herbert came in and gashed Houston for 157 yards on 20 carries for a cool 7.9 yards per carry, and two TDs. The Bears also got runs of 29 yards from Justin Fields and 41 on a reverse to receiver Equanimeous St. Brown. The Bears finished with 281 yards rushing, the most for them since a 283-yard showing against the Cowboys on Sept. 30, 1984.
