BBC Breakfast TV presenter Sally Nugent has apologised live on air following a segment featuring some surprise reptilian guests that made some viewers squirm
BBC Breakfast TV viewers and host Sally Nugent were left feeling uncomfortable, as were many viewers, following the appearance of some reptiles during the show on Wednesday 1 May.
A fourth reptile, a hognose snake named Levi, was brought on by a handler during the interview, causing Sally to comment that the new addition was “smaller and cuter,” before apologising after she realised her comment could be misinterpreted. The segment featured Ethan and Annalise discussing how some exotic pets are being given up by their owners due to the expense of looking after them.
Ethan explained: “I’d say if you’re thinking about getting an exotic pet, do the research on what breed you’re getting, what species. The UV light if they need any, do they need any source of heat lamp? Any supplements?” Annalise also worried the hosts when chatting about Ziggy the female corn snake, whom Sally described as the “liveliest” of all the creatures on the sofa. “It’s her temperament, really,” Annalise said. “She might try and go down someone’s shirt, she likes to explore. She seems quite content though.”
