BBC presenter Sophie Raworth has dropped out of moderating the upcoming Prime Ministerial Debate after an ankle fracture - sustained whilst running - left her unable to walk
BBC News presenter Sophie Raworth has been forced to pull out of a Prime Ministerial Debate after suffering a painful ankle injury.
A keen runner, Sophie said in a statement to The Mirror that she suffered an injury whilst running the London Marathon in April and had to quit the race after he ankle "blew up". Since then, she has struggled with pain on the injured foot and has been left unable to walk on it. Today programme presenter Mishal Husain will be taking her place in moderating the debate. Sophie went on to say about Mishal: "Mishal Husain is a fantastic presenter and will be brilliant at moderating what is a really important debate for both the two leaders and the BBC. I’m delighted she is doing it."
The debate is set to air on Wednesday 26 June at 8.15pm, with Laura Kuenssberg and Clive Myrie providing political analysis and reaction afterwards until 10pm. While Sophie is stepping down from the debate, she will be presenting BBC News bulletins still as well as general election night coverage for the BBC.
