The ANC in Johannesburg insists that the fate of the city's ousted mayor Mpho Phalatse has been sealed even if she succeeds in her court bid to overturn her stunning removal from office.

Mpho Phalatse will remain not being a mayor," said ANC Johannesburg regional secretary Sasabona Manganye in response to the DA's latest bid to save its governance in Johannesburg. Phalatse, supported by the DA, filed a court application at the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg to have the council sitting which removed her from office to be declared unlawful.
