In the behind-the-scenes look at Ryan Sook's design for The Night from this week's Dark Crisis tie-in comic, an entirely new Batman is revealed, as his new Batsuit and its many new features take the spotlight in the DC Comics art.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Following the Justice League's defeat at the hands of Pariah and his Dark Army, the greatest heroes of the DC Universe were transported to pocket realities, where their energy was drained to power the villain's plans. Green Lantern, Zatanna, Superman, The Flash, and Superman were all taken to seemingly perfect worlds that brought back some of their greatest desires as the realities tried to keep each hero inside of them to siphon their powers.
Meet The Night, Batman's New Persona The steampunk-like design for The Night and his costume is described as "almost android in appearance," featuring a highly polished armor texture juxtaposed by tattered remnants of the apocalypse outside the sanctuary. Sook's design intentionally made Batman relate to the two different worlds he was in - with elements pulled from a darker, decrepit world, with high-tech features throughout.
Ultimately, Ryan Sook's design for Batman's The Night persona creates an intriguing new version of the hero, who embraced his dark side in a world without the Justice League. With a frightening new name and costume, Batman becomes a version of the character he's never been before, as The Night is truly a unique take on The Dark Knight.
