Wildcard Brodie Kostecki had the worst possible start to his dream Bathurst 1000 drive when his helmet filled with carbon dioxide.
Kostecki's helmet fan began to feed CO2, from the dry ice in his cool suit system, rather than air and he was forced to stop his Holden. Supercars were willing to offer special dispensation to the team if Brodie was deemed unable to race. His cousin, Jake Kostecki, is the co-driver and Jake's brother, Kurt, was on standby to replace Brodie.
